Project Safety Assistant

Our project safety assistants are responsible for project-wide safety and health administration, including developing specific on-site safety programs, performing safety audits, leading accident investigations, administering first aid when necessary, training personnel, and keeping project safety records.
Responsibilities
- Administers Vaughn’s and Owner’s safety program requirements.
- Helps to develop specific on-site programs, as required.
- Performs site audits for unsafe practices and conditions, makes recommendations and/or knows specific regulation on proper corrections.
- Leads/perform accident investigations.
- Trains personnel on proper safety procedures.
- Reports worker's compensation claims and performs onsite worker's compensation claims administration for Vaughn employees’ and trade contractor employees’ injuries.
- Performs record keeping/document control for HAZCOM, training etc., including various reports to Owner.
- Assists in developing and maintain hazard analysis documentation.
- Administers first aid, CPR, AED when necessary.
- Stays current on safety regulations.
- Performs other duties and services to ensure project is delivered successfully and client is satisfied.
- Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.
Requirements
- Minimum of six years of experience in construction safety, with a minimum of five years in building construction safety.
- Current OSHA 510 training within four years.
- Current emergency first aid, CPR, AED training within two years.
- Working knowledge, experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to deal with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
- Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be bi-lingual or have means to translate between English and Spanish.
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, Email, PDF.
