About the role
The Project Procurement Manager oversees procurement processes to meet both company and client specifications. They ensure efficient delivery of materials and equipment across multiple sites while adhering to project budgets. They also manage supplier relationships and negotiate agreements.
Responsibilities
- Manage procurement processes to meet company and client requirements
- Ensure optimal efficiency in procuring, expediting, and scheduling deliveries
- Ensure compliance with project budgets and analyze deviations
- Interface with suppliers and manage supplier relationships
- Launch and implement activities to deliver targeted results
- Consult on purchasing services for various projects
- Manage sourcing of potential suppliers for defined scopes of work
- Work with the project team to prequalify suppliers and establish commitment for proposals
- Facilitate supplier performance evaluations, develop procurement estimates, and proposals
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships and establish new suppliers
- Lead activities for the development of procurement strategy
- Manage supplier selection to achieve best performance for clients
- Negotiate agreements and lead their implementation, coordination, and enforcement
- Facilitate meetings to manage and optimize supplier performance, review standard metrics, discuss market/industry factors, and perform competitive benchmarking
- Understand, track, and forecast the supply base, market, technology, cost structure/drivers, and competition
- Drive continuous improvement throughout the supply base, investigate new technology, improve efficiencies, and resolve chronic issues
- Drive cost savings through best sourcing, supplier rationalization, value engineering, etc.
- Communicate and conduct meetings, presentations, and updates with suppliers, project teams, business segments/units, and executive management
- Support and participate in resolving supplier delivery, quality, or commercial issues escalated to the procurement team
- Manage supplier submittals to facilitate agreement execution
- Affiliate with the development of departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction, Law, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years in construction or industrial manufacturing
- Familiarity working with project management teams
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence/motivate others
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- C.P.M. or CPSM certification preferred
- Proven negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven negotiation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Oracle software experience preferred
- Proven ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments
- Proven ability to devise and lead implementation of new approaches to problems encountered
- Understanding of commercial terms and conditions
- Understanding of logistics, freight, and tax implications
