About the role

The NoVA MRT Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the NoVA MRT/Consultation social work staff who screen and assess DHS referrals of DHS residents experiencing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) to provide necessary DV resources in the community and/or safe placement either in emergency DV shelters or within Department of Homeless Services (DHS).

Responsibilities

  • Review NoVA screening and assessment recommendations;
  • Approve NoVA eligibility determinations, service plans, DV emergency shelter placement and DHS preclusions;
  • Aid in DV shelter placement when appropriate;
  • Oversee the review of difficult and priority domestic violence cases;
  • Provide crisis intervention, short term counseling and ongoing safety planning;
  • Procure, maintain, and provide updated DV resource information;
  • Coordinate and participate in training opportunities;
  • Establish collaborative relationships with DHS staff and DV service providers;
  • Monitor internal administrative controls for tracking actions taken and outcomes.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work;
  • One year of full-time satisfactory experience practicing social work utilizing one or a combination of casework, group work, and community organization methodologies;
  • A valid Certified Social Worker (CSW) certificate or Licensed Master of Social Work license (LMSW) issued by the New York State Department of Education must be obtained within one year of the date of appointment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a Master's Degree in Social Work;
  • One year of full-time satisfactory experience practicing social work utilizing one or a combination of casework, group work, and community organization methodologies;
  • A valid Certified Social Worker (CSW) certificate or Licensed Master of Social Work license (LMSW) issued by the New York State Department of Education must be obtained within one year of the date of appointment.

Skills

  • Ability to independently supervise and manage a team;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of domestic violence services and resources;
  • Ability to assess and respond to high-risk situations;
  • Experience with crisis intervention and counseling;
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining DV resource information;
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate training opportunities;
  • Experience in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with various service providers and agencies.

Schedule

Monday to Friday 9 am - 5pm flex
