Project Mechanical Engineer
About the role
The Project Engineer at Envista Forensics applies scientific methodology to investigate and determine the cause of complex failures in mechanical systems. This role involves leading multi-party examinations, preparing thorough reports, and providing expert testimony in legal proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Investigates the cause of mechanical failures in industrial, commercial, and residential settings.
- Analyzes failure modes and code requirements as needed.
- Prepares accurate and clear reports detailing the cause and origin of damages.
- Participates in catastrophe responses such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes.
- Provides deposition or expert testimony in product liability cases, civil, and criminal court settings.
- Maintains relationships with current clients and consultants.
- Manages and collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments.
- Stays updated on office and company policies, procedures, and practices.
- Adheres to applicable State Insurance Regulation requirements and other laws.
Requirements
- 5-7 years’ experience evaluating mechanical failures.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Exemplary time management and organizational skills.
- Sound written and oral communication skills.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive information.
- Safety mindset with the ability to foresee project risks.
- Willingness to obtain additional Professional Engineering Licenses.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Physical agility to perform in various environments and conditions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in commercial or industrial settings.
- Forensics experience.
- Experience working with law firms and insurance companies.
- Power systems experience (generators, transformers, switchgear).
- Electro-mechanical experience.
- Project Management and MEP experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Active Professional Engineering License (state of employment preferred).
