Project Mechanical Engineer
About the role
The Project Engineer at Envista Forensics applies scientific methodology to investigate and determine the cause of complex failures in mechanical systems. This role involves leading multi-party examinations and documenting damaged property, preparing reports, and providing expert testimony.
Responsibilities
- Investigates the cause of mechanical system failures and determines the specific reasons for failures.
- Analyzes failure modes and code requirements as necessary, and provides recommendations for repair or remediation.
- Prepares accurate and thorough reports outlining the cause and origin of damages for clients.
- Testifies as a fact or expert witness in product liability cases, civil or federal court cases, and occasionally in criminal cases.
- Maintains relationships with current clients and consultants, and manages projects involving multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ensures compliance with office and company policies, participates in training, and adheres to safety and ethical standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience evaluating mechanical failures.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Ability to work in catastrophic environments and maintain a safety mindset.
- Active Professional Engineering License (state of employment preferred).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in commercial or industrial settings preferred.
- Forensics experience and experience with law firms and insurance companies is preferred.
- Power systems and electro-mechanical experience are desirable.
- Project Management and MEP experience is beneficial.
