Project Manager- Water/Wastewater- West Coast
About the role
Salas O’Brien is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support our water and wastewater engineering practice reporting to our Roseville, CA office. This position can be hybrid or remote for the right candidate. This role is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects while managing client relationships, supporting business development efforts, and mentoring team members.
Responsibilities
- Lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, and treatment systems
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and at high quality standards
- Oversee and coordinate project teams, including engineers, CAD designers, and subconsultants
- Helpful but not required to maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts, including pursuing and winning new work
- Provide technical leadership and apply engineering expertise across water and wastewater system planning, funding, design and operations
- Mentor and develop junior staff through coaching, training, and performance feedback
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise technical documentation and presentations
- Support team growth through collaboration, recruiting, and knowledge sharing
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering
- Proven experience managing projects, teams, schedules, and budgets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver successful client outcomes
Preferred Experience
- With pump station and water/wastewater treatment design
- Established client relationships and local market presence
- Demonstrated success in business development and client growth
- Experience mentoring and developing early-career professionals
Compensation & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000 – $200,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
