Project Manager - Wastewater Engineering

About the role

Lead and manage wastewater solutions projects, ensuring efficient, profitable, and timely execution. Resolve scheduling, staffing, and quality issues to deliver results on time and within budget. Location: Aurora, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop wastewater treatment systems, collection systems, and related infrastructure.
• Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports for municipal and industrial wastewater projects.
• Perform hydraulic modeling, process design, and system optimization.
• Apply expertise in anaerobic digestion of biosolids, including system design, evaluation, and optimization for treatment efficiency and energy recovery.
• Support and guide projects involving biosolids management strategies, including anaerobic digestion processes, regulatory compliance, and operational best practices.
• Engage in business development with clients in existing and new markets.
• Build and maintain client relationships.
• Effectively communicate ideas and technical concepts to co-workers and clients on sensitive and complex matters.
• Lead projects utilizing staff and sub-consultant resources to successful completion on schedule and on budget.
• Prepare client contracts, statements of qualifications, and priced proposals and contracts.
• Provide quality control for assigned projects and clients.
• Work on complex projects and perform non-conventional planning.
• Prepare documents and reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar degree with appropriate experience.
• 8 years of experience in engineering with 2+ years of Project Management experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Ability to navigate Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations with ease.
• Proven client relationship management skills.
• Strong understanding of wastewater processes, methods, and state and federal requirements, including biosolids treatment and anaerobic digestion systems.
• Proficiency in engineering software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills.
