About the role
This position supports the delivery of projects of varying size and complexity, primarily related to water and wastewater utilities for Sunshine Water Company. The role will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and controlling project activities within the state of Florida.
Responsibilities
- Develop complex water and wastewater construction project plans from initiation to closure, adhering to milestone and deadlines.
- Create and maintain activity and progress reports for internal and external customers.
- Responsible for all project development.
- Manage construction inspections.
- Obtain engineering proposals, monitor project budgets, construction activity and coordinate timing with operations.
- Track all budget-related information, such as hours worked and expenses.
- Coordinate all daily activities and personnel for each project.
- Responsible for all project documentation.
- Develop communication and stakeholder management plans.
- Ensure the success of projects while remaining within scope, quality, time and budget constraints.
- Notify management staff of any current or pending escalations relating to projects, or items that could impact the success of projects.
- Assist with forecasting and planning capital projects up to 5 years in advance.
- Coordinate and complete the work necessary to obtain approval on emergency projects.
- Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time.
- Attend project team status meetings as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years engineering experience, preferably related to water and/or wastewater projects and design.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or similar field required.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Nice to have: MS or MBA preferred.
- Nice to have: PE preferred.
- Nice to have: SAP Knowledge preferred.
Skills
- Ability to calculate basic mathematical equations.
- Ability to read and interpret soil and hydro-geological reports and maps.
- Ability to complete work that will ensure the approval of all capital projects in a timely manner.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare and submit accurate reports.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, including negotiating, decision-making research and analysis, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide safe working conditions for fellow workers.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public.
- Ability to motivate others in the pursuit of Company goals.
- Proficiency with MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to learn internal software programs.
- Proficiency with project management methodologies.
- Ability to understand project management financial management.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and reports.
- Ability to read permitting documentation, commission reports, contracts and other technical information.
- Ability to prioritize work, including approvals, that will ensure the projects are managed to schedule.
- Ability to document accurate information and provide reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, project stakeholders including the public.
- Ability to understand and implement a variety of the project, construction, engineering and operations field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
Work Environment
- Normal office setting.
- May require considerable mental focus or sensory effort for an extensive length of time (consistently throughout the day).
- May spend an extensive amount of time focused on a screen or on a task.
- Within the region; up to 25% for training, meetings, project management, etc.
