Join Our Community of Food People! The Project Manager, Transformation is responsible for leading and executing strategic initiatives that support enterprise-wide transformation efforts across the retail organization.

About the role

This role partners closely with cross-functional leaders to deliver projects that improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, optimize costs, and enable scalable growth. The Project Manager will manage multiple initiatives within the Transformation Team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives. This role requires strong project management discipline, change leadership, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a decentralized retail environment.

This role is hybrid. You will be onsite in Rosemont, IL or West Linn, OR 3 days a week (Tuesday - Thursday) and virtual Monday and Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project management for transformation initiatives, from ideation through execution and post-implementation review.
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and success metrics in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including resource allocation, risk mitigation, and dependency tracking.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise priorities and transformation roadmap.
  • Partner with senior leaders across merchandising, store operations, finance, HR, and IT.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive decision-making and remove roadblocks.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on project status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Support organizational change efforts by developing and executing change management plans.
  • Drive adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working across corporate and field teams.
  • Identify and address resistance to change through proactive engagement and communication.
  • Monitor project performance against defined KPIs, including financial impact, timeline adherence, and operational improvements.
  • Develop executive-ready reporting and dashboards for Transformation Office leadership.
  • Ensure benefits realization and track ROI for transformation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the organization.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Standardize best practices and support scaling across multiple locations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that may impact project delivery.
  • Escalate critical issues with recommended solutions in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in retail, supply chain, or multi-unit environments.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize their own work and meet deadlines, manage projects, and set priorities.
  • Able to make accurate decisions and proactively solve problems, many of which are complex, with little direction.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience working with senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Travel up to 10%, including overnight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) certification.
  • Experience in a Transformation Office or enterprise change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, or supply chain processes.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis, cost savings initiatives, and ROI tracking.
  • Experience supporting large-scale system implementations (e.g., ERP, workforce management, inventory systems).
  • Works independently on assignments. Proactively brings forward ideas for improvement.
  • Collaborates well with team members and other work associates.
  • Understanding of retail KPIs such as comp sales, basket size, inventory turns, shrink, and labor productivity.

Pay

The expected base rate for this role is between $85,000 - $135,000, depending on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.

Schedule

Hybrid: Onsite in Rosemont, IL or West Linn, OR 3 days a week (Tuesday - Thursday) and virtual Monday and Friday.
