Project Manager - Tool & Die
About the role
Guo Ji Tooling Systems is the international arm of Tooling Systems Group, a leading supplier of automotive stamping dies, molds, and automation assembly equipment. We are looking for an experienced tool and die professional to assist with project management for our USA and China teams. Position will be based in Grand Rapids, MI with occasional travel to China and customer facilities throughout North America.
Responsibilities
- Maintain/administer job budgets and finances and their impact on final profitability. Budget based upon quoted amount & quoted process.
- Keep management abreast of the current job financial status.
- Keep management/sales informed of future/potential work identified through Project Management contacts.
- Collaborate with appropriate department managers/leaders in establishing tool process, tool design and tool quality.
- Create timelines per customer and/or company requirements.
- Keep management informed on job completion status, problems with timing and provide input as to solutions to delivery problems.
- Participate in processing and conveying customer desires with respect to processing. Not solely responsible for the processing, but responsible for involving the necessary individuals in the process.
- Responsible for concept, 50% & 100% design approval of dies and fixtures, if awarded.
- As required, liaison between the customer, engineering and manufacturing.
- Get necessary information to keep all activities moving – not waiting for information.
- Work with department heads to coordinate design and construction. Set-up internal meetings as required.
- Quoting of engineering changes (review with department heads as required).
- Receiving purchase orders for all work to be performed, in process or completed.
- Advise accounting of the invoicing status.
- Following invoices through the proper channels and receiving the necessary engineering and/or plant approvals to ensure the invoices acceptance by the payables department. (TSG accounts receivable will handle lack of payment issues, after necessary engineering, and or plant approvals.)
- Keeping an open issues list, including the person responsible for the task.
- Organize and lead internal kickoff meeting on all new projects.
- Attend homeline buyoffs at customer facility.
- Carry out ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive/tool & die industry.
- Good management, organizational and people skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to read and speak English.
- The ability to lift 20 pounds.
- The ability to present a professional demeanor suitable for this position.
- The availability to travel in the U.S. and abroad.
Qualifications
