About the role

The Buildings team at Stantec is dedicated to transforming the built environment through innovative design. This position involves a mix of project involvement and learning/expanding technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Project Involvement: Approximately 85% of time. Telecommunication services, Voice, Data and Video transport systems, Electronic Security systems, Nurse Call/Clinical Communication systems, Systems Integration concepts, Data/Wireless Network topologies, Provides design leadership, Translates client and owner requirements into drawings, specifications, cost opinions, technical reports and assessments, Represents Stantec on local and regional levels, Acts as QC reviewer on projects, Prepares written recommendations and reports to clients, Interacts with other disciplines, Acts as a representative for clients in communications with government agencies, commercial organizations, and healthcare organizations, Collaborates with A/E/C project teams, Develops and maintains reference materials, Prepares white papers and articles for industry publication, Develops standards documentation and boilerplate documents, Performs quality control documentation, Nurtures existing client relationships, Pursues opportunities for new business, Attends client and industry events, Develops and delivers client presentations.
  • Learning/Expanding Technical Skills: Approximately 10% of time. Develops knowledge of technologies, trends, and markets, Proactively pursues additional knowledge in related disciplines, Attends in-house project meetings and potentially out of office client meetings, Participates in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support Business Center and company goals, Assists in development and maintenance of drawing standards and specifications, Participates in Industry/client events.
  • Other Activities: Approximately 10% of time. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field - Telecommunications, Information Technology or Electrical Engineering is highly desirable, although comparable proven work experience is acceptable.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in the analysis, design, installation, maintenance and/or repair of systems, systems or directly related systems is required.
  • RCDD certification is highly desirable.
  • Revit experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD or similar drafting software experience is also desirable.
  • CCNA, PE, CTS, PMP, PSP etc., are preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare technology, biomedical engineering/clinical engineering is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Excellent client communication and relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, design, and optimization of complex networks in a variety of healthcare, enterprise, and government environments.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of, voice/data systems, IT/telecommunications, wireless systems, electronic security systems and audio-visual systems.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and Technology standards (NEC, BICSI, ANSI/TIA, FGI, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral form and able to comprehend complex oral and written direction.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
  • Ability to explain complex problems and issues in understandable terms to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding and experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Pay and Schedule

This position will exist at Stantec BC 2804 location in Los Angeles, Irvine, or San Diego, CA. This position will have a flexible work schedule requiring (3) days in the office, (including Wednesday with the other 2 days determined by candidate) and (2) days working from home.
