Summary Description

Under the direction of the Team Leader, Sustainability, assists in administering the design, implementation, and warranty for a variety of systemic and infrastructure projects that support sustainability improvements, such as the installation of new technology including utility monitoring, troubleshooting and improvements, solar/clean energy, etc. Monitors energy usage and expenditures to detect, investigate and resolve unusual utility usage, and coordinates across the division of facilities management and vendors on identifying and implementing related improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develops specifications, budgets, and timelines for projects
• Coordinates with facilities management and vendors to implement improvements
• Communicates with stakeholders including government officials, school staff, and the community
• Travels between construction sites as needed
• Works flexible schedules and attends evening or weekend meetings as required

Ability to travel between construction sites on an unscheduled basis. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and be available to work outside of normal business hours as needed and occasionally attend evening or weekend Board of Education, committees, or other meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Professional knowledge of project management, including computer systems applications, methodology of rehabilitation of existing structures
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems and energy conservation strategy implementation
• Knowledge of budget and cost estimations, resource and schedule planning, public procurement laws, customs, and procedures
• Excellent interpersonal skills for presenting oneself effectively and professionally
• Practical knowledge of energy performance measurement and indices for schools, including commercial utility bills and troubleshooting irregularities
• Continuous improvement of business processes

Education, Training, And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Five years of increased responsibility in administrative, technical, and field experience in engineering, HVAC, building automation systems, and managing energy and utilities programs for a large multi-facility organization
• Minimum of five years of experience detecting, investigating, and reducing high-energy use in facilities
• Extensive training in computers, building automation, and database management preferred
