Working under the direction of the Associate Director, Management & Operations (M&O), the Project Manager plans, executes, and finalizes central-level project tasks for a large, United States Government (USG)-funded, multi-country global health project. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to plan, including Core activity work plan and budget development, activity monitoring, and contractual deliverable management. The Project Manager serves as an operations point of contact to troubleshoot cross-cutting operational challenges and collaborates with FHI 360 enterprise service units such as Contract Management Services (CMS), procurement, and digital technology.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the development of Core workplans and initiatives from initiation to completion.
  • Contributes to the development of project management tools to ensure timely and efficient project monitoring under the guidance of project leadership.
  • Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Works closely with project technical and program management team members to resolve issues, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitors contractual deliverables regularly.
  • Manages select Core-funded initiatives, focusing on minimizing risk, monitoring budgets, and ensuring successful execution.
  • Troubleshoots issues with project staff and enterprise services to ensure smooth implementation; tracks challenges and collaborates with leadership to resolve them.
  • Forges and maintains solid cooperation with select partners through regular communication, cooperation, and joint decision-making.
  • Provides backup country project management support if needed.
  • Contributes to the development of Core activity reports and monitors activity budgets as applicable.
  • Develops tools and techniques for delegating tasks based on team members' skills and evaluates their performance.
  • Ensures all project personnel receive appropriate orientation to the organization, project, and FHI 360 systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its international equivalent in Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, Youth, or related fields.
  • Project Management (PM) Certification strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with project management principles and practices.
  • 2+ years of management experience required.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.
  • International or domestic (US) program development or project management experience preferred.
  • English fluency required; fluency in a second language (e.g., French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic) is an advantage.

Supervision

  • May supervise Project Officer(s).
  • Coordinates project plans, budgets, training, and resources with management to achieve strategic goals.
  • Typically reports to a Director or Associate Director.

Work Environment

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to spend long hours at a computer and perform repetitive keyboard work.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology

  • Personal Computer/Laptop.
  • Microsoft applications (e.g., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams).
  • Cell phone/mobile technology and standard office equipment.

Travel

10% - 25% travel required.

Pay

US-based hiring salary range: USD $90,000 - $110,000 annual. International hiring ranges will differ based on location. FHI 360 contributes 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account.

Benefits

  • Full-time staff (40 hours/week) receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than full-time.
