About the role
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Structural Engineering team. In this role, you will support and lead a variety of structural and architectural projects, contributing to the design, analysis, repair, and restoration of buildings across New York City.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support projects on existing buildings including structural repairs, façade restoration, historic preservation, forensic investigations, and interior alterations.
- Serve as an in-house structural consultant to architects and mechanical engineers, providing guidance on issues such as deterioration, façade anchorage, and roof dunnage design, etc.
- Perform structural analysis and develop repair details for steel, concrete, masonry, cast iron, and wood structures, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate project documentation including drawings (AutoCAD), specifications, technical reports, and correspondence.
- Participate in all project phases: investigation, scoping, design, bidding, filing, construction administration, and closeout – while enforcing quality control and troubleshooting project challenges.
- Conduct site inspections using supported and suspended scaffolding and lifts (25–50% field work) and collaborate closely with clients and contractors to support, educate, and ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural focus/concentration preferred).
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
- 5+ years of work experience in structural engineering.
- Knowledge and experience of NYC building codes.
- Must be comfortable working at heights and from suspended scaffold rigs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural analysis tools.
- Exceptionally organized and skilled at balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- NY State PE license.
- Experience with existing buildings, historic construction, and historic preservation.
- Familiarity with façade restoration, parking structures repairs and forensic investigations.
- Willingness to obtain any other required certifications.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is based in New York City, with a hybrid work schedule. Standard working hours are Monday–Friday, 8AM – 5PM (Flexible). Travel requirements: moderate field work mostly within Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens (25–50%).
