Project Manager (Self-Perform / Concrete) - St. Louis, MO

Position Summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Project Manager (Self-Perform / Concrete) to join our team supporting concrete operations based in St. Louis, MO. This role leads Barton Malow's self-performed concrete scopes, including formwork, reinforcement, and placement, ensuring safe, high-quality, and productive execution while maintaining alignment with project budget, schedule, and contractual requirements. The Project Manager (Self-Perform) will spend the majority of their time on-site, directly responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing Barton Malow craft personnel, field supervision, and resources.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Lead Barton Malow's self-performed concrete activities, ensuring work is installed, inspected, and documented safely and in compliance with specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage the daily activities of craft labor, field supervision, and support staff, including manpower loading, equipment needs, productivity tracking, and placement sequencing.
• Manage project budgets for self-perform work, including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, and support for internal estimating efforts.
• Coverage of procurement and timely delivery of concrete materials, formwork, tools, and equipment; review submittals including mix designs for design compliance.
• Support project controls, scheduling, and reporting, including progress, cost, and manpower updates, as well as turnover and closeout documentation.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and development to field supervisors, foremen, and craft personnel.
• Work with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure expectations and contractual requirements are satisfied.

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, And Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering, with relevant concrete, structural, or industrial project experience.
• 8-10 years of relevant construction experience, with direct experience managing self-performed concrete work.
• Strong knowledge of concrete means and methods, formwork, reinforcement, placement, finishing, and curing — plus productivity tracking and field execution.
• Prior proven experience leading field teams, craft labor, and construction supervision.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel as required, with the expectation of spending the majority of time on-site.
