Responsibilities
- Manages and directs large complex water storage and water transmission construction projects.
- Maintains ongoing training and mentoring of project teams.
- Directly responsible to senior executive team.
- Provides ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
- Captures and coordinates training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
- Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including the client.
- Determines and maintains overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
- Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track.
- Provides senior experience and knowledge in underground concrete water storage tank and large diameter pipeline excavation and grading self-perform construction to the team and field operations.
- Develops cost savings solutions for concrete construction, large pipeline, excavation and grading, and other trade issues and scopes of work.
- Identifies and secures necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget, and/or schedule.
- Utilizes existing relationships with vendors and suppliers in the water storage and water transmission business to benefit the company and project.
- Maintains ongoing communication with client at his/her level and works with project teams to make adjustments as necessary to comply with clients’ needs within contractual obligations, or to adjust project deliverables to meet the client and stakeholders needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Heavy Civil Construction background with 8+ years of experience.
- Experience with all aspects of construction including excavation, underground utilities, forming and placing concrete, finishing and curing concrete, grading and paving.
- $20-$30 million + Heavy/Civil Construction project as Project Manager preferred.
- Safety orientation with 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates preferred.
- Thorough and experienced understanding of underground self-perform construction logistics and requirements for mechanical, civil, architectural and other applicable scopes of work.
- Additional experience in dewatering, change order strategy, procurement and subcontractor negotiations/risk preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- The ability to function as a team builder/player.
- The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite.
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) training a plus, however QSP or QSD certifications are not required.
- Customer service/client driven.
- Estimating HCSS and CAD knowledge a plus.
- P6 Primavera scheduling proficient a plus.
Compensation
Base salary being offered for this position is USD $150,000.00 per year to USD $180,000.00 per year. Please note that the salary range listed is specific to the role listed in Los Angeles County, California. Salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on various factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, and performance.
