Project Manager – Roadway
Job Description
Olsson provides multidisciplinary design services for transportation-related projects, including urban and rural highways, interchanges, and municipal roadways. As a Project Manager I, you will support the successful delivery of small to medium-sized, roadway projects or defined project components under the guidance of a senior project manager. This role contributes to high-quality project outcomes by applying standard project management practices while gaining experience across multiple phases of the project life cycle.
You will work closely with project managers, technical teams, clients, and contractors to help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This position emphasizes collaboration, organization, and professional growth while supporting transportation solutions that positively impact communities.
Primary responsibilities
- Supports senior project managers in developing and tracking project scope, schedule, and budget, identifying potential risks and escalating issues as needed.
- Affords assistance with project execution and coordination, including assembling project teams, coordinating internal resources, and supporting task assignments aligned with project objectives.
- Assists in coordinating contract administration activities, including documentation, reviews, and implementation in accordance with established processes.
- Maintains oversight of project progress and performance, supporting risk management and change management efforts to minimize impacts to schedule and budget.
- Organizes and participates in project meetings, supports client communications, and maintains positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintains accurate and complete project documentation, including correspondence, design files, schedules, and other project-related records.
- Supports quality management and safety standards under the guidance of the project manager and company policies.

- Proven ability to contribute and work well in a team-oriented environment while supporting multiple project tasks and priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant project management experience, including supporting scope development, schedule coordination, and budget tracking.
- Experience supporting transportation infrastructure projects such as roadways, municipal streets, highways, or related civil projects.
- Working knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D in support of transportation design and project coordination efforts.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
