About the role
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of heavy highway/bridge construction projects in the Richmond, Virginia region. Ensures project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters, either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, project procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources for various phases.
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase; arranges recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan, assign duties, responsibilities, and authority.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within budget.
- Reviews status reports from project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as needed.
- Prepares project reports for management, clients, or others.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
- Coordinates project activities with governmental agencies and subcontractors.
- Understands and analyzes CPM-based project schedules.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Interviews and hires project staff.
- Trains, plans, assigns, and directs work.
- Appraises performance, rewards, and disciplines employees.
- Addresses complaints and resolves problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Requirements
- Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree preferred.
- 10+ years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination).
