Responsibilities
- Align labor, equipment, and crews for optimal field production across all mechanical and piping scopes
- Develop a deep understanding of P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), isometric drawings, orthographic plans, specifications, and ASME codes (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.1)
- Create and maintain the project master plan, including sequencing for structural steel, pipe fabrication, spool installation, tie-ins, and system testing
- Create the preliminary project schedule and maintain weekly progress updates
- Perform full job setup including contract review, cost codes, utility quantity tracking, and budget oversight
- Catalog and track submittals, RFIs, PCOs, weld logs, NDE/NDT records, equipment procurement, and specialized piping material procurement
- Lead subcontractor and supplier buyout for pipe materials, structures, excavation support, and specialty civil items
- Submit all required information and questions for efficient field execution
- Prepare and submit change orders tied to scope growth in utilities, earthwork, and structures
- Submit timely pay applications while keeping accounts receivable current
- Lead in internal planning & measurement processes
- Provide supervision, direction, communication, and development of the project team, including field supervision
- Maintain strong industrial customer and plant manager relationships by staying actively engaged throughout all phases of the mechanical installation
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in industrial mechanical construction, mechanical contracting, or process piping fabrication
- Strong familiarity with piping materials, weld procedures (WPS/PQR), and industrial testing procedures (hydrostatic and pneumatic testing)
- Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
