About the role

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager- Power & Energy for our Denver, CO office. We can also offer this position remotely from a mutually acceptable location within the United States and must have the ability to travel to a WSP and/or Client office for periodic face-to-face meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high level technical project leadership, and guidance with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned project(s) or portfolio of projects in accordance with WSP’s core values, and the level of project services agreed upon in the contract by WSP and the client(s).
  • Takes responsibility for the overall performance of assigned project(s) that are moderate and larger size/complexity and regional in scope, and includes oversight for financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule.
  • Ensures that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable corporate standards for safety, execution, profitability, and operational purpose.
  • Oversees and monitors cross-functional teams of technical professionals and subject matter experts to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, deliverables, compliance documentation, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project(s) as defined in the contract.
  • Develops project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans. Develops the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs. Establishes and actively drives the appropriate levels of technical review required for the project, selects appropriately qualified staff to perform the required reviews, and adherence to the QA/QC plan, as applicable. Ensures and maintains a record of each review and the disposition of review comments and all correspondence leaving the project.
  • Mentors project team members to support their growth and professional development. Performs margin analyses, establishes margin goals and risk contingencies. Participates in the technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentation, and meetings.
  • Develops and updates the Project Initiation/Setup Documentation including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessary. Conducts and facilitates project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively with Project Accounting to monitor and track project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin for an assigned portfolio of projects. Oversees management of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control. Coordinates with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements in a timely manner. Maintains regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts. Participates in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Provides regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers, identifying any emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budget. Monitors accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled revenue, working to address issues as needed. Works with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements as appropriate. Completes formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
  • Maintains regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts. Participates in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
