Project Manager - Permitting (Hybrid)

Summary
InterAgency is seeking a full-time Project Manager to join our Commercial Permitting team. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of the Senior Project Management Team to support clients throughout the permitting lifecycle. This role involves initiating, tracking, and coordinating construction permits for large-scale new development projects in the District of Columbia and surrounding jurisdictions.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements: Education: Associate degree or equivalent work experience. Experience: At least 5 years in a detail-oriented, administrative, or project coordination role. Industry Experience: Prior experience in a construction-related or permitting environment. Skills: Strong organization, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Experience coordinating with municipal or regulatory agencies. Familiarity with permitting software or online submission portals.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit permit applications via online portals to regulatory agencies across the D.C. Metro region.
Communicate directly with agency officials to confirm submittal requirements, verify processes, follow up on application statuses, and resolve permit-related issues.
Schedule and participate in meetings with agency representatives and clients as needed.
Track and manage permit applications through all review stages, ensuring timely responses to comments and required revisions.
Conduct quality control (QC) reviews on client-provided permit documents prior to submission.
Identify potential permitting risks and schedule impacts, and collaborate with Senior Project Managers to develop mitigation strategies.
Respond promptly to client inquiries via email and phone, maintaining a high level of customer service.
Prepare project updates, reports, and presentation materials for client meetings.
Provide regular internal updates on permit status and contribute to team meetings and project planning discussions.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Employment Conditions
Type: Full-time, exempt employment.
Hybrid remote work - 3 days in-office, 2 days remote.
Office Location: North Bethesda, MD.
Must be able to reliably commute to client locations within the DC Metro area.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000/year.
