Project Manager - Mission Critical (Boston)

About the role

Burns & McDonnell’s Mission Critical team, ranked #1 by the ENR in 2023, offers exciting opportunities in high-tech building design and construction, focusing on mission-critical data center projects. This role involves managing and coordinating multiple engineering disciplines on large-scale, fast-paced projects within a multibillion-dollar, exponentially growing industry. The position is part of an international practice with collaborative work across departments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct engineering projects, ensuring safety, cost, schedule, and quality adherence.
• Enforce project review processes and quality control guidelines.
• Establish project teams, coordinate multi-discipline activities, and optimize staff utilization.
• Execute complex assignments using advanced techniques to develop new processes, equipment, or technologies.
• Develop and evaluate plans for major projects; assess feasibility when data is insufficient.
• Coordinate project studies, reports, and design assignments across departments.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.
• Regularly engage with clients and external stakeholders.
• Participate in marketing activities and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience (a master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience).
• At least 3 years of project management experience in the mission-critical industry.
• Demonstrated success in project management with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to apply intensive, diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad assignments.
• Capability to devise innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Previous consulting experience preferred.
• Professional engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
