About the role

The Project Manager, Informatics (Communications Lead) manages information technology-related project activity supporting the VHA Office of Clinical Informatics (OCI) in the stabilization, recovery, and Post Go-Live (PGL) operation of the Oracle Health Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Responsibilities

  • Applies life cycle and project management methodologies to plan, execute, and track communications and change-support workstreams, managing cost, schedule, and performance while identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Manage IT/informatics project activities using established life cycle and project management methodologies; track cost, schedule, and performance progress.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to communications and change-support activities; escalate issues with proposed resolutions.
  • Direct and quality-review the work of communications and technical writing staff.
  • Cook up cross-functionally with change management, training, and informatics teams to align messaging with workflow and system changes.
  • Apply SAFe Lean-Agile principles and practices to drive value and sustain organizational change and operational excellence through high-performing Agile teams.
  • Prepare project-level inputs for weekly task reports, bi-monthly budget trackers, and monthly progress reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing Information Technology-related projects.
  • Experience with life cycle and project management methodologies, including tracking cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Experience with and demonstrated understanding of SAFe Lean-Agile principles and practices.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience leading communications or change-focused workstreams in healthcare/health IT programs.
  • VA/VHA or federal health experience; familiarity with EHR modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable VA background investigation at the Low Risk / NACI level, including electronic fingerprinting and e-QIP submission.
  • All work must be performed within the United States; remote work is performed via VA-approved remote access (Citrix Access Gateway) in accordance with VA Handbook 6500 requirements.
  • Availability for occasional CONUS travel to VA Medical Centers (approximately 5-day site visits) in support of EHR Go-Live and Post Go-Live activities, as authorized by the Government.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications; working knowledge of SharePoint Online, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI is strongly preferred per the task order Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan.
