Project Manager - Industrial Water

About the Role

Haskell’s Construction & Manufacturing Team supports all delivery groups across the company and projects throughout the United States. The team provides field management personnel, from craft workers to Project Superintendents, along with logistical support such as establishing per diem rates, company trucks for superintendents, and coordination of team member arrivals. The team also offers continual training through in-house/online courses and local jurisdiction apprenticeship programs to support career development from entry-level positions upward.

In this role, you will manage design/build, construction management, or construct-only projects from assignment through completion, ensuring accountability for all construction activities. You will collaborate with your team to build essential infrastructure while overcoming job site challenges.

Responsibilities

• Assist project directors in responding to RFPs, including preparation of conceptual estimates, schedules, and other proposal documents.
• Participate in client presentations as required.
• Monitor progress of design documents and participate in design review meetings, providing input on constructability, scope, and cost changes.
• Prepare detailed estimates, cost code input, and cost control systems.
• Prepare bid packages, invite bid inquiries, analyze bids, qualify subcontractors, and award subcontracts and major purchase orders.
• Work with the director of construction and core personnel to establish job organization, including superintendent and PCE requirements.
• Plan, sequence, and schedule the project with input from the superintendent and subcontractors; manage the project schedule, conduct job site meetings, and prepare updates.
• Oversee project cost control, including updating labor cost reports, summary cost reports, and project status summaries.
• Coordinate requirements of governing authorities for permits, inspections, and final project approval with A/E.
• Maintain submittal control, including scheduling, receiving, reviewing, approving, and expediting submittals from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Manage client relations, including progress meetings, correspondence, periodic reports, change orders, and responses to client inquiries.
• Prepare requisitions for payment and other project invoicing; maximize project cash flow through invoicing and collections.
• Prepare and secure owner acceptance of contract change orders; issue modifications to subcontracts and purchase orders after owner acceptance and update the budget.
• Manage payments to subcontractors and vendors, including reviewing and approving schedules of value, pay requisitions, invoices, and required insurance coverage.
• Address subcontractor and supplier performance issues, including documentation, default notices, and replacement if necessary.
• Review and monitor project progress, quality, and safety; work with the superintendent to make corrections as required to comply with contract and company policies.
• Assist in the development of construction personnel through mentoring and on-the-job training.
• Effectively manage project close-out tasks and any warranty work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years in Industrial Water/Wastewater facility construction, design, or management preferred.
• Knowledge in the design and construction of Industrial Water/Wastewater facilities.
• Expertise in managing resources, including budgets, schedules, and materials in an environment of multiple, competing demands.
• Knowledge of estimating, construction methods, engineering, equipment, and technology.
• Excellent understanding of safety procedures.
• Strong organizational, supervisory, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
• Ability to travel per project requirements.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.
• Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
• Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing.
