Project Manager II, Transportation

Position Information

To perform a variety of professional level duties and responsibilities related to infrastructure projects for assigned County department.

About the role

This is the journey level class in the Project Manager series. This class is distinguished from the Project Manager I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the department.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, controls, integrates, and evaluates the work of the contractors for County infrastructure projects;
• Maintains low preventable change order and time extension rates on department contracts;
• Develops and implements inspection practices;
• Acts as a liaison between contractors, design engineers, and department staff;
• Maintains quality control of correspondence regarding contracts.

Requirements

• Performs other related duties as required.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, urban planning, environmental science, architecture engineering, construction management or a related field; supplemented by five (5) years of experience in professional construction management and inspection;
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, urban planning, environmental science, architecture engineering, construction management or a related field preferred.

Qualifications

• Professional certification as a project manager or a related specialty preferred.
