About the role
The Project Manager II in Corporate Real Estate Planning and Development will manage facility and infrastructure related construction projects from planning through activation in accordance with corporate policies, established standards and governing regulations and requirements. The successful candidate will manage several (10-15) projects that vary in complexity. The Manager will collaborate with airport authorities as required to ascertain, understand, and address airline interests in facilities or other airport infrastructure projects. This position is onsite at Newark Airport.
Responsibilities
- Leads successful projects by combining strategic thinking, business acumen, and technical experience.
- Creates project justifications through stakeholder engagement, communication, and option development.
- Manages vendor staff support overseeing project construction and administration.
- Meets project metrics within approved business case cost and scope.
- Portfolio Planning, Development, and Management:
- Establish and maintain strong business relationships with airport leaders and United internal customers.
- Develop project strategy and approach during envisioning and create multiple alternatives to achieve project objectives.
- Project Delivery:
- Manages design and executes airport and commercial property facility and infrastructure construction projects.
- Manages programming, planning, design, construction, schedule, and budget-related challenges using knowledge of the planning, design, and construction process.
- Accountable for compliance with budget, schedule, and scope of projects.
- Responsible for governance of UA and CRE artifacts and guidelines.
- Responsible for utilization of UA and CRE processes, standards, project database, PM artifacts, workflows, and project management guidelines.
- Uses CRE project tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle, and others as defined by need.
- Ensures projects meet defined metrics.
- Responsible for transparent, accurate, and consistent project reporting (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) of the portfolio of projects.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of planning, design (engineering or architecture), and/or construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with an understanding of best practices in project management.
- Knowledge of design and construction management process and vernacular.
- Experience in construction safety and capital improvement planning for facilities.
- Ability to navigate airport environments, including:
- Walking extended distances across terminals and operational areas.
- Standing for prolonged periods during site visits and meetings.
- Climbing stairs and using escalators/elevators to access different airport levels.
- Working in varying environmental conditions (temperature-controlled terminals and outdoor areas).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications.
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science and engineering or construction management.
- PMP, LEED, Black Belt, PE, RA, or CM certification.
- Experience managing project teams.
- Airline or airport experience.
Pay
The base pay range for this role is $102,220.00 to $133,194.00. The base salary range is dependent on job-related factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
