Project Manager II
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong Manufacturing Engineering background to lead and manage small to large-scale business projects. This role is focused on manufacturing, operations, product development, and engineering initiatives rather than IT projects. The ideal candidate will have transitioned from Manufacturing Engineering into Project or Program Management and possess a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams through the full project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple manufacturing and business-related projects from initiation through completion.
- Collaborate with project sponsors, business stakeholders, engineering teams, and end users to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations using project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Estimate project effort, timelines, and resource requirements using standard project management methodologies.
- Lead project execution by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, managing risks, and implementing mitigation plans.
- Track project milestones and ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project status reports, executive updates, and performance metrics.
- Resolve project issues and remove barriers impacting project success.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior project managers and provide guidance on project management best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and operational processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, engineering, operations, product development, or related environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects through the complete Project Life Cycle.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource management, and risk management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience within regulated manufacturing or quality-system environments.
- Background in manufacturing operations, process improvement, or product development.
Important Note: This position is NOT intended for candidates whose experience is primarily in Information Technology (IT) project management. Candidates with Manufacturing Engineering backgrounds who have progressed into Project or Program Management roles are strongly preferred.
