About the role
The Project Manager II is responsible for managing emission systems projects for various industry applications including energy, HRSG or simply cycle power plants, refineries. This role involves taking ownership, initiating, planning, executing, and finalizing projects from inception to completion. The Project Manager is responsible for the leadership of projects that are cross-functional and have a relative degree of complexity.
Responsibilities
- Manage Emission systems projects for a variety of industry applications including Energy, HRSG or Simply Cycle power plants, Refinery.
- Documents and manages the scope and detailed requirements through the life of the project.
- Works with Engineering group in the generation of document deliverables as well as with customers to obtain approval of proposed design.
- Responsible for all commitments in the schedule.
- Communicates and follows up regularly with team members to ensure tasks are completed according to plans.
- Collaborates with project engineering to maintain schedule and seek out change orders.
- Develops project plans for schedule, resources, and budget.
- Collaborates with resources managers, lead team members, Finance, and executives.
- Reports status to project stakeholders through multiple formal communication methods (e.g, monthly status reports, bi-weekly snapshot reports, project plan updates) and informal methods (e.g, ad-hoc requests and email).
- Communicates effectively with project team members, management, and project stakeholders on project goals & objectives status, issues, risks, potential mitigation solutions.
- Makes decisions on final Subcontractor selections based on total cost of ownership and ensuring project goals are met.
- Communicates via weekly calls or in person visits to ensure vendor progress is satisfactory.
- Provides technical support for fabricators during the construction of equipment.
- Holds subcontractors responsible & accountable for their product.
- Leads logistic preparations, field installation support and coordinates commissioning of the equipment so the project can be closed with invoices paid in full, lessons are learned, and the customer is satisfied.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally when necessary (up to 30%).
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in Energy or Emission Controls or Refinery or Structural steel fabrication.
- BS degree in Mechanical, Business, Industrial or Project Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledgeable of industry processes, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrument, and controls with ability to interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, create field erection procedures.
- Ability to overcome obstacles to achieve goals and adapt to a changing environment.
- Experience using MS Project Scheduling, MS Office, Excel, understanding of ERP.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a creative, professional, team environment.
Qualifications
