About the Role
This is a 12-month contract position with a potential for extension, supporting Distribution Substation Optimization projects in the Carolinas West (Mountains Zone). The role focuses on strengthening the distribution electrical grid to enable a carbon-free future, with the company targeting zero net carbon emissions by 2050.
Responsibilities
- Lead, oversee, and coordinate project teams, including matrixed members from internal and external organizations (e.g., Development, Engineering, Project Controls, Estimating, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Legal, EHS, QA/QC, Operations, Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, Regulatory, Security, Fuels, Transmission).
- Interface with functional leaders regarding team placement, development, and conflict resolution.
- Establish and maintain communication among project/program stakeholders.
- Structure, lead, or assist in project-related meetings to ensure open communication.
- Prepare and communicate monthly project status, kickoff meetings, and weekly/monthly reports.
- Develop and communicate Project Plans, reporting means, and adherence to PMCoE Standards and Business Unit procedures.
- Plan assigned projects, including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality aspects.
- Champion project planning processes, including scope definition, estimating, scheduling, cost control, procurement, vendor selection, start-up/commissioning, and integration.
- Execute projects according to plans within approved scope, cost, and schedule constraints, covering objectives, deliverables, WBS, risk/quality/safety plans, regulatory/procurement strategies, and project close-out.
Requirements
- College degree preferred; High School Diploma required.
- Utility experience required.
- Electric distribution or transmission experience preferred.
- Maximo experience preferred.
- Strong Excel skills preferred.
- EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
Pay
$53.00 - $63.00/hour (W2 contract, no PTO, no benefits). ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Schedule
12-month contract with potential for extension.
