Project Manager - GIRFEC Refocus - Hayfield House - SIC08858
This post reports to the Programme Manager of Children’s Social Work and is responsible, through the Fairer Futures Systems Change Board, for delivering activities that contribute to the successful completion of Shetland’s GIRFEC Refocus project.
About the role
The post holder will lead and develop the aims and objectives of the GIRFEC Refocus project, reviewing and refreshing the local approach to Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC). The role involves strengthening how GIRFEC is understood, applied, and experienced by children, families, and practitioners.
The post holder will undertake research and analysis to support project management, service development, and improvements, working with a high degree of autonomy to ensure milestones and objectives are delivered on time and within budget.
Demonstrating curiosity and an appreciation of differing professional and organisational cultures is essential to build interagency commitment to improving local GIRFEC practice. Knowledge of improvement methodologies, such as the Scottish Approach to Change and Quality Improvement, is advantageous, along with flexible project management skills.
Requirements
- Ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice, including in areas with limited public transport
- Preferred candidates must join or update their Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership prior to a formal offer of employment

Pay
The grade of this post is J, with a rate of pay inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour.
Schedule
- Temporary part-time post for up to 30 hours per week
- 52.18 weeks per year
- Temporary contract until 31 March 2028
