About the role

The Project Manager – Construction based Electrical Leak Location (ELL) is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of electronic leak detection projects across various geosynthetic and waterproofing applications. This role provides both field and office leadership for projects involving membrane integrity testing in solid waste containment systems, water and wastewater infrastructure, tanks, roofing systems, and other engineered barrier installations. This position ensures projects are delivered safely, accurately, and profitably while maintaining high technical standards in accordance with industry QA/QC practices. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of coordination between field crews, clients, and internal teams within Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc., supporting both day-to-day execution and long-term service line growth.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate ELL projects from mobilization through completion.
  • Ensure timely execution of field activities aligned with scope, budget, and client expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols and testing standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Communicate field findings, progress updates, and technical recommendations.
  • Support proposal development and project scoping discussions.
  • Represent the organization in project meetings and site coordination efforts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients to support growth of the Electrical Leak Location service line.
  • Identify new project opportunities through networking, industry involvement, client outreach, and collaboration with internal service groups.
  • Aid in preparing proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and technical presentations for prospective clients.
  • Participate in industry conferences, client meetings, and professional organizations to enhance market presence and expand business opportunities.
  • Assist with annual departmental planning, including staffing needs, equipment requirements, training objectives, and operational goals.
  • Coordinate personnel, equipment, and project resources to ensure efficient execution of field operations and client commitments.
  • Monitor departmental workload, project schedules, and resource utilization to support operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, project delivery, utilization, and financial performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational effectiveness, quality assurance, employee development, and client satisfaction.
  • Supervise and coordinate field technicians and support staff.
  • Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure field readiness of personnel.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of team members.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and technical excellence.
  • Provide guidance on membrane system performance and leak detection strategies.
  • Advise clients on appropriate testing methods based on site conditions and materials.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex field conditions.
  • Contribute to technical recommendations and corrective action planning.
  • Mentor junior technicians and developing project staff in ELL methods and QA/QC practices.
  • Reinforce best practices in safety, documentation, and field execution.
  • Develop internal knowledge sharing and training support materials.
  • Build bench strength for future leadership within the service line.
  • Advanced understanding of geosynthetic liner systems and waterproofing membranes.
  • Working knowledge of electrical leak location technologies and instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and as-built conditions.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC principles in landfill, water containment, and infrastructure systems.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and background in engineering, construction management, environmental science, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Preferred Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, environmental science, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in construction, QA/QC, geosynthetics, environmental services, or electrical leak location/testing.
  • Proven supervisory and project management experience, including oversight of field crews and multi-site project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality control, construction inspection, and field verification activities.
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of membrane systems, geosynthetics, and leak detection methodologies (e.g., arc, spark, dipole, and related ELL methods).

  • Strong organizational and planning skills for managing multiple concurrent field projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, field conditions, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for reporting and client interaction.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving in dynamic field environments.

Pay

Commensurate with experience.
