Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking a Project Manager – Design & Construction to lead projects that deliver exceptional campus spaces. This role contributes to the realization of the university’s ambitious institutional goals.

About the role

Under the direction of the Principal Architect, the Project Manager oversees the design and construction of smaller renovation projects at SIUE, as requested by departments. The position may also manage larger, multi-million-dollar projects executed by A/E Consultants under contract, acting as the Owner's Agent. The role carries responsibility and authority to ensure construction projects are built per contract drawings and specifications, and to maintain cost control to meet budgetary goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages project development and design by architect-engineer firms and execution by construction contracts
  • Works closely with University clients and the Purchasing Department to meet requirements
  • Develops programs, cost estimates, and designs for smaller renovation projects in collaboration with project customers
  • Performs special studies involving technical investigations and analysis, and recommends solutions to unique planning and design problems
  • Provides professional support to building maintenance activities within the scope of professional knowledge and experience

Requirements

  • Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:
    • Work experience in construction management, building project management, or a closely related field
    • College coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    • Three (3) years (36 months) of building construction management and/or building project management experience comparable to the lower level of this series

Additional Information

Out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date, requiring proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card.
