About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Project Manager – Design-Build Delivery to support the continued growth of our Northeast Design-Build business. This role is ideal for a developing Design-Build leader who understands the Design-Build process and is looking to expand their experience across pursuits, design management, project delivery, commercial awareness, and operational leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Design-Build Project Delivery Support
    • Support Design Managers, Project Managers, and Managers of Projects in the successful delivery of Design-Build projects.
    • Carefully coordinate multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, procurement, construction support, and closeout phases.
    • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables.
    • Maintain project performance and support the implementation of corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support Design Services During Construction (DSDC) activities
    • Facilitate coordination between designers, contractors, clients, and subconsultants.
  • Pursuits & Pre-Contract Services
    • Support proposal development and pre-tender activities for Design-Build pursuits.
    • Aid in the development of execution plans, schedules, staffing plans, risk registers, and technical proposal content.
    • Coordinate pursuit deliverables and support proposal teams during procurement efforts.
    • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across pursuits.
  • Design-Build Governance & Process Improvement
    • Support the development and maintenance of Design-Build standards, procedures, tools, and best practices.
    • Aid in project reviews, delivery assessments, and performance reporting.
    • Help capture and implement lessons learned from pursuits and project execution.
    • Support knowledge management initiatives across the Design-Build organization.
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, joint venture partners, and internal teams.
    • Support and mentor junior staff while continuing personal growth within the Design-Build organization.
    • Take ownership of assigned workstreams and demonstrate initiative in solving project challenges.
    • Develop increasing responsibility and leadership capability across project delivery functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on Design-Build projects or alternative delivery projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced project environments.
  • Understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management principles.
  • Willingness to grow into increasing levels of responsibility within a Design-Build delivery organization.
  • Experience supporting major Design-Build pursuits and proposal development activities.
  • Experience working with highway, bridge, rail, transit, aviation, or other transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Exposure to Design Services During Construction (DSDC).
  • Experience coordinating designers, contractors, and clients within a Design-Build environment.
  • Understanding of commercial, contractual, and project delivery considerations on large infrastructure programs.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability/desire to obtain licensure.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.

  • Has the potential to grow into future Project Management, Design Management, Commercial Management, or Design-Build leadership roles.
