Project Manager - Decarbonization & Greenhouse Gas Programs

About the role
Decarbonization and gas decarbonization is a new business area for the company. The resource will help establish and clarify internal roles and responsibilities, work with other teams on governance activities, track approximately 15 approved NGIA pilots, gather status updates from SMEs, identify risks and roadblocks, maintain progress reporting, and support annual regulatory update reports. The resource will also support development of the next NGIA plan, evaluate future pilots, and perform lifecycle greenhouse gas calculations using the GREET model, including building GREET pathways for different project types.
This is a unique opportunity to help build a new and growing decarbonization business area at Xcel Energy, influence NGIA planning efforts, support innovative greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, and potentially convert to a full-time Xcel Energy position. Budget is available through the end of 2029. The manager is seeking a long-term candidate interested in staying for three or more years, with potential for full-time conversion.
Responsibilities
- Establish and clarify internal roles and responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional teams on governance activities
- Track approximately 15 approved NGIA pilots
- Gather status updates from subject-matter experts
- Identify risks and roadblocks
- Maintain progress reporting
- Support annual regulatory update reports
- Support development of the next NGIA plan
- Evaluate future pilots
- Perform lifecycle greenhouse gas calculations using the GREET model
- Build GREET pathways for different project types
Requirements
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in project management
- 5–10 years of experience performing greenhouse gas calculations
- 5–10 years of experience with the GREET model and lifecycle carbon intensity calculations
- 5–10 years of greenhouse gas emission reduction calculation experience
- Experience working cross-functionally and coordinating projects across teams
- Strong communication, collaboration, coordination, project tracking, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in carbon offsets and additional greenhouse gas emission reduction programs and calculations
- Certifications related to greenhouse gas accounting, GREET, or greenhouse gas emission reduction calculations
Pay
Hourly rate: $60.00 – $74.00
Schedule
Full-time, temporary-to-hire position with an estimated duration of 5 months. Shift: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
