Project Manager - Corrections Construction
About the role
Sletten Construction is seeking a Project Manager to support current and future construction projects. The Project Manager oversees day-to-day operations of multiple projects, providing leadership to tackle challenging initiatives, fostering teamwork, and driving energy and enthusiasm to achieve company goals and objectives. All business is conducted in accordance with Sletten Construction Company's mission and vision statements.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and assist in staffing key field positions
- Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of an on-site superintendent to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget
- Investigate construction, existing condition, or design issues and implement corrective measures
- Assist with project pursuit and procurement, including preparation of RFQ responses and interviews
- Coordinate with in-house Preconstruction team, Architects, Engineers, and Owners through the design process
- Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders
- Maintain and update project schedules
- Participate in employee continuing education in-house or through outside programs
- Counsel and, when needed, terminate unsatisfactory or unneeded employees
- Manage the project team by providing assignments, leading and training junior team members, and tracking task completion
- Learn and utilize ProCore, Viewpoint, and other relevant industry software
- Ensure vehicle fleet and equipment are maintained, and Sletten's Vehicle policies are upheld
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of the company and support the goal of achieving zero accidents
- Investigate and document all accidents
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management/Sciences, Engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical, building science, etc.), or related discipline
- 8+ years of work experience in project management, contracting, engineering, or construction management
- Past leadership experience required
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Developed office management and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured
- Excellent time management skills
Additional Information
This position reports to the Division Manager and is a traveling role requiring job site visits. The role involves both office and field environments, including sitting, climbing, and standing. Travel to various construction sites is required, exposing the employee to outdoor elements, noise, and the need to stand and walk. The majority of jobsites are located in California.
