Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning and execution of mechanical construction projects (HVAC, plumbing, piping, controls) from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts and resource plans; meet cost, schedule and quality targets.
- Manage mechanical subcontractors and trade partners: prequalify, negotiate scopes, manage performance and resolve disputes.
- Cookordination procurement of long-lead equipment and materials; track deliveries and vendor performance.
- Run weekly project meetings, provide clear direction to site teams, and maintain actionable meeting minutes and progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, applicable codes (IMC, IPC, NFPA, local requirements) and company quality standards.
- Oversee site safety program, ensure OSHA and company safety policies are enforced, and lead incident investigations when required.
- Process and manage change orders, RFIs and submittals; track impacts to schedule and budget and communicate with stakeholders.
- Cookordinate commissioning, start-up and testing of mechanical systems; ensure operational handover and owner training.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to clients and senior management; escalate risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and develop project engineers and site superintendents; drive continuous improvement and lessons learned.
- Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate schedule, cost or quality issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive mechanical construction project management experience, including HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Prior experience working for or managing mechanical subcontractors is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record managing projects at commercial, institutional or industrial scale with budgets ranging from mid-size to large.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (IMC, IPC, NFPA) and familiarity with commissioning procedures.
- Proficiency with construction management tools (MS Project, Procore, Primavera, or similar), submittal/RFI workflows, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills; ability to build client relationships and lead cross-functional teams.
- Experience creating and controlling project budgets, schedules, forecasting and change management.
- Certifications such as PMP, CCM, NICET, or OSHA 30 are a plus.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
