Project Manager
Position Summary
This position requires a qualified Engineer or Architect to manage the design of a variety of projects, including all disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Geotechnical, Fire Protection, Architectural, Interior Design, and CADD) and commissioning requirements supporting military/commercial/industrial new and retrofit for building and infrastructure construction.
Responsibilities
- Prepares preliminary design proposal(s)
- Interacts with production personnel to define and solve design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regard to our products
- Works with the VP Quality to define problem areas and implement product improvements based on client concerns
- Negotiates with subcontractors for services related to projects
- Maintains the project files
- Participates in engineering and general design review, as required
- Prepares proposal documentation
- Prepares technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc.
- Interacts with clients on design and any concerns they may have
- Interacts with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to the company
- Keeps Division Manager advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments
- Provides overall technical direction and oversight of projects
- Prepares internal project budgets and schedules and responsible for meeting project schedules and budget targets
- Oversees manpower allocations and supervision and review/evaluates work of others
- Reviews scope of technical issues and outlines technical approach to solutions
- Prepares cost estimates for new projects
- Reviews analysis of project’s budget, schedule, and technical performance at project closure to identify lessons-learned and develop any corrective actions required
- Prepares specifications or construction cost estimates
- Counsults with construction inspectors to prepare payment estimates as a recommendation for payment of contractors
Qualifications
- BS in a specific discipline of Engineering or Architecture
- Masters in specific discipline of Engineering or Architecture preferred
- Current professional engineering or architecture license and ability to be licensed by comity in other states preferred
- Minimum 8 years design and/or construction experience
- Military facilities design a plus
- Working knowledge of applicable design and building codes
- Proficiency in various computer software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and scheduling software
- Experience administering and managing construction contracts
- Ability to have strong rapport with clients
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
