Project Manager
About the role
The MEP Project Manager leads the coordination and management of infrastructure construction projects, focusing on MEP trade work and project completion. Key responsibilities include estimating project costs, reviewing and approving materials, and overseeing the installation and commissioning of MEP systems.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate project costs and scope, including MEP equipment and labor, NJDOH, enabling cost, etc.
- Understand and adhere to NJDCA and NJDOH processes for project filings.
- Ensure compliance with RWJBarnabas Health policies and bring contracts to final agreements.
- Lead and manage MEP subcontractors from groundbreaking to turnover and commissioning.
- Create and maintain construction schedules, coordinate project logistics, and review materials and equipment.
- Communicate project progress and prepare reports, attend project meetings, and supervise project staff.
- Monitor and commission MEP systems, perform periodic site inspections, and address construction issues.
- Support preconstruction activities and validate design drawings and specifications.
- Manage equipment quality, oversee safety, and ensure conformance to project scopes.
- Collaborate with project design and construction teams, and resolve issues through effective communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- At least 10 years of construction experience in infrastructure projects, preferably in healthcare.
- Expertise in MEP construction and construction means and methods.
- Knowledge of critical facility operational requirements and the commissioning process.
- Proficiency in using computers, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical abilities to navigate construction sites safely and perform tasks at various heights.
