About the role
The Project Manager will oversee civil construction projects primarily in the Fort McMurray region, with potential opportunities across Canada, the USA, or Australia. This role focuses on delivering diverse projects safely, on schedule, and within budget, including road construction, site grading, underground utilities, mine infrastructure, tailings facilities, HDPE piping, multiplate culverts, MSE walls, mine reclamation projects, mine overburden removal, and concrete construction.
Responsibilities
- Safety and Compliance Champion safety leadership by enforcing company, client, and regulatory requirements. Ensure project teams adhere to all health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Plan, organize, and direct all project phases from proposal to closeout. Establish production targets, monitor progress, and coordinate with field teams to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and productivity goals.
- Manage project financials, including estimating, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and change orders.
- Oversee contract administration, claims, variations, and compliance.
- Conduct regular reviews of operational performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Mentor and develop superintendents and supervisory staff through performance reviews and career guidance.
- Foster clear communication, accountability, and collaboration across operations, engineering, and client teams.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective relationship management. Represent NACG in meetings and provide performance updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership in construction or project management, with experience in civil projects.
- Proven expertise in estimating, financial management, contract negotiation, and change management.
- Familiarity with collective agreements, construction drawings, specifications, scheduling, and planning.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in Canada, USA, or Australia.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Successful completion of drug/alcohol testing and medical fitness assessment.
- Willing to relocate to Edmonton or Fort McMurray.
