About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Project Team in Kingston, NY. The role involves managing multiple OEM projects from order process to startup, coordinating materials and personnel, and serving as the primary internal contact for customers, engineering, sales, service, manufacturing, and purchasing throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in proposal/budget/project review meetings with multiple departments to define project configurations and identify potential risks.
  • Track project progress, cost, and financial performance.
  • Manage customer expectations for scope of work, project schedule, and buyer/seller responsibilities.
  • Confirm customer's agreement/completion of mechanical and production startup responsibilities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage project schedules to ensure on-time completion of contractual milestones.
  • Attend and participate in onsite customer kick-off meetings and pre-installation meetings.
  • Resolve field installation problems by maintaining close contact with customers, applications engineering, Customer Care, warehouse, supplier, and others.
  • Manage and communicate the active punch list of issues during project installation phases.
  • Coordinate timely corrective action with internal and external resources while minimizing cost impact to the project.
  • Arrange change orders as appropriate.
  • Learn and master the current ERP system (Syteline) and any changes therein.
  • Ensure project cost tracking and forecasted spending are updated in the ERP systems accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Create and implement long-term corrective action plans in collaboration with Engineering Leadership.
  • Route warranty issues to Product Manager and Director.
  • Update CAD Drawings and assist with site layout configuration.

Requirements / Knowledge / Skills

  • Strong organizational, negotiating, planning, and influencing skills, both verbal and written.
  • Prior experience with supplier/procurement processes.
  • Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Critical thinking skills to interpret and use information from a variety of sources and interpret highly technical concepts.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and thrive in a change-oriented, fast-paced, high-stress environment where schedules, deadlines, and customer demands can shift priorities.
  • Leadership and team-building experience with the ability to integrate a diverse group of people to achieve objectives.
  • Well-structured and organized problem-solving/root cause analysis skills.
  • Preventive and corrective action skills.
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships and support Customer Care and Applications Engineering teams at site with suppliers and parts.
  • Minimum three years' experience with Project Management in a capital equipment environment.
  • Preferred BS Degree in Engineering or Project Management.
  • Knowledge of industrial food processing environment.
  • Technical background in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, and service disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of Syteline 9 business system software.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $101,250 – $129,000, with starting salary varying by location, qualifications, and prior experience.

Travel & Location

You will be onsite/hybrid and travel up to 20 - 40% (primarily in the USA). Scope of responsibility/accountability includes receiving direction from manager to set broad goals, showing creativity and new ideas, and meeting quality requirements without sacrificing safety, cost, and delivery goals. Work with multiple departments to recommend methods to control job cost and non-conformances. Must be willing to travel to customer sites, predominantly in the US, Mexico, and Canada, and estimate on average 50% of time in an office or meeting environment. Travel can be sporadic. Exposed to possible hazards, including heavy equipment and shop traffic, workers face risks. Uneven and slippery footing, inclement weather, and other hazards are also present. Sites typically have indoor environments that are often wet and refrigerated to a temperature of 30-40° F. Installation sites require appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including JBT Marel and Customer PPE.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting and operating computer. Frequent walking and standing. It is necessary to spend time in a field environment. This is where you meet with customers, engineers, suppliers, account managers, field technicians, and others. You need to manage project scope, site conditions, schedule, and cost in this environment. Additionally, you must resolve critical supplier or installation problems. This fast-paced environment demands that you manage it by walking the factory floor to assess and resolve multiple priorities, constant change, and a variety of equipment, process, and other problems.
