Project Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Manager to lead electrical construction and maintenance projects from turnover through closeout. Based in College Point, NY, this role is responsible for coordinating project scope, schedule, budget, documentation, procurement, field support, change management, billing, and client communication.
About the Role
The Project Manager serves as a key connection between field operations, engineering, estimating, purchasing, accounting, subcontractors, vendors, owners, agencies, and executive leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with contract requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage electrical construction and maintenance projects from estimating turnover through final closeout
Review contract documents, bid documents, drawings, specifications, scope, exclusions, schedule requirements, notice provisions, and project risks at turnover
Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, milestones, procurement needs, subcontractor requirements, delivery dates, manpower coordination, and closeout activities
Lead project coordination with owners, agencies, general contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, vendors, foremen, field leadership, estimating, engineering, purchasing, accounting, and executive management
Maintain organized project documentation, including insurance, bonding, permits, RFIs, submittals, correspondence, meeting notes, change orders, drawing logs, closeout documents, and other contract records
Monitor project cost, committed costs, labor productivity, cost-to-complete, budget performance, profitability, billing status, outstanding balances, and cash-flow-related items
Prepare and submit budget updates, progress reports, cost tracking reports, schedules of values, billing documentation, and other required project reports
Identify scope changes, document impacts, prepare pricing, support negotiations, and finalize change order values with a focus on timely recovery and project profitability
Support subcontractor, vendor, equipment, and material selection in coordination with estimating, engineering, purchasing, and field leadership
Care for purchase order requests for major equipment, subcontractors, and materials, including shipping requirements, delivery timelines, and advance notice requirements
Ensure current drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and other required documentation are distributed to the field and maintained throughout the project lifecycle
Partner with foremen and field leadership to review job progress, manpower, productivity, safety requirements, material takeoffs, field constraints, and solutions to project issues
Attend and/or lead internal and external project meetings related to scheduling, delivery, work plans, job progress, manpower, safety, changes, risks, and issue resolution
Review project work for compliance with contract requirements, applicable codes, safety requirements, environmental regulations, agency requirements, and company procedures
Support monthly billing, collections follow-up, job cost reporting, and communication with accounting to maintain timely and accurate project financial information
Care for project closeout, including punch list support, as-builts, CAD requests, warranties, final documentation, and required owner or agency submissions
Escalate critical, sensitive, or high-risk issues to the Project Executive with recommended solutions and supporting information
Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, safety programs, and standards of professional conduct
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required
Five or more years of construction project management experience required; electrical construction experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of construction contracts, project documentation, drawings, specifications, schedules, change orders, billing, and closeout requirements
Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, labor/productivity impacts, and project profitability
Ability to communicate effectively with field leadership, owners, agencies, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, design professionals, internal departments, and executive leadership
Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, city, safety, environmental, and construction-related regulations and guidelines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Ability to travel to project sites throughout the New York City area as business needs require
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent field, trade, project management, or electrical construction experience may be considered
Experience with NYC public agency, utility, infrastructure, transportation, maintenance, or municipal electrical projects preferred
Experience working in union construction environments and coordinating with IBEW/Local 3 field labor preferred
OSHA 30, PMP, CCM, or other construction, safety, or project management certifications are a plus
Technology and Software Skills
Procore or similar Project Management/document control software preferred
Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Autodesk Build, Microsoft Project, or similar drawing, scheduling, and field coordination tools preferred
Vista/Viewpoint, Sage, CMiC, or similar construction ERP/accounting software experience preferred
Advanced Excel skills for cost tracking, forecasting, reporting, schedules of values, and project financial review are a plus

Compensation Range
$100k - $140k
