Project Manager
About the role
We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead high-impact projects transforming our city's infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage planning, design, and construction of capital improvement plan projects, including utilities, streets, storm drains, parks, and facilities.
- Prepare, analyze, understand, and interpret engineering studies, plans, specifications, and regulatory documents.
- Investigate field conditions for project feasibility and address issues during construction.
- Represent the department and the City in meetings with various stakeholders.
- Build and maintain trust among coworkers, subordinates, and city staff.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, techniques, policies, and procedures.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience.
- Expertise in project management within local government, particularly in parks and facilities development.
- Strong skills in budgeting and procurement.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of recent and on-going developments, current literature, and sources of information related to the engineering, development, and construction fields.
- Ability to perform a diverse range of journey-level engineering tasks.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to work performed.
- Ability to use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines.
- Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments.
Skills
- Ability to prepare, analyze, understand, and interpret engineering studies; engineering plans and specifications, and various regulatory documents and guidelines and determine conformance with applicable laws and standards.
- Ability to research, analyze, and summarize data; perform accurate engineering calculations and cost estimates.
- Ability to investigate field conditions for project feasibility and/or issues which arise during the construction process.
- Ability to effectively represent the department and the City in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups, and various business, professional, and regulatory organizations and individuals.
- Ability to use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines.
- Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments.

The City of Corona, located in Riverside County, California, encompasses around 40 square miles and has a vibrant, culturally diverse population of approximately 168,100 residents.
Organization
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year. The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
