About the role
Adams Electric Company is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate Electrical Construction Project Manager to join our outstanding team of skilled project managers and operations team. This role is accountable for the management of assigned healthcare construction projects, ensuring installation, performance, profitability, and value addition. The Project Manager will work within established time frames, ensuring conformance with quality work standards, projected man-hours, and company guidelines while adhering to regulatory compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Pre-Construction:
- Plan and prepare all contract administration, execute and direct project activities, and develop or maintain client relationships.
- Set up jobs including creating job cost budgets, schedules of values, re-estimates, reviewing and executing subcontracts, and purchase orders with accurate BOMs.
- Price and procure subcontractor packages, ensuring scopes align with project documents and subcontractors are capable of completing work.
- Price and procure major material packages (e.g., Switchgear, Lighting, Commodities) and ensure consistency with project documents.
- Procure, submit, and manage the submittal process for Adams’ scope of work.
- VDC/BIM:
- Provide general oversight for VDC/BIM related to specific projects.
- Collaborate with the Project Operations Manager and VDC/BIM Manager to create a VDC/BIM plan, including layout lead, coordination schedule, and drawing schedule.
- Assist the Superintendent with BIM layout efforts prior to the project and review drawings regularly for quality control and constructability.
- Pre-Fabrication:
- Work with the Superintendent, Construction Resources Director, and Project Operations Manager to create and maintain a pre-fabrication plan.
- Manage the delivery of pre-fabrication assemblies and installation schedules.
- Explore opportunities for pre-fabrication in all aspects of the project.
- Material Management / Jobsite Logistics:
- Create and maintain a material management and logistics plan, including defining material needs, ordering, receiving, and organizing materials.
- Ensure a quality control plan for all materials to meet project specifications.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent, Field Operations Manager, and Project Operations Manager to develop and adjust the plan throughout the project.
- Procure, manage, and maintain equipment on the project, including company vehicles, equipment rentals, and tools.
- Scheduling:
- Create and maintain project schedules, including organizing current crews and manpower projections.
- Develop a field organization chart for the project with the Superintendent and Field Operations Manager.
- Update the schedule and manpower projections weekly.
- Subcontractor Management:
- Oversee all subcontractor scopes of work.
- Ensure timely completion of submittal deliverables.
- Monitor subcontractor manpower to meet the project schedule.
- Ensure subcontractor work meets all project requirements.
- Manage the billing process for individual subcontractors.
- Safety:
- Work with the Superintendent to create and maintain a project-specific safety plan, including daily reports, PPE management, and accident management.
- Collaborate with the Onsite Safety Manager to develop and enforce the safety plan.
- Ensure adherence to both project-specific safety plans and Adams Electric company standards.
- Quality Control:
- Work with the Project Superintendent to create and maintain a QA/QC plan, including specification and code compliance, punch list management, and testing documentation.
- Develop a project-specific QA/QC plan with the Superintendent and QA/QC Manager.
- Ensure adherence to both project-specific QA/QC plans and Adams Electric company standards.
- Cost/Change Management:
- Review, price, and manage all project scope and coordination changes.
- Ensure pricing submissions meet Adams, GC, and owner standards.
- Track and follow up on the status of open change orders.
- Prepare and submit monthly WIP reviews, progress, and cost tracking reports, including "cost to complete estimates."
- Understand and communicate monthly job setup, contract amounts, billings, change orders, costs, hours, manpower projections, and key schedule milestones.
- Externally:
- Develop relationships and build trust with owners, architects, engineers, trade contractors, vendors, and others associated with project activities.
- Serve on various committees and participate in trade-related activities and events.
Requirements
- BS in Construction Management or equivalent studies/experience preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Project Management with an Electrical Contractor required.
- Proven people management, process management, and performance management skills.
- Knowledge of financial software, accounting practices, change order pricing, and billings.
- Strong budget tracking, labor tracking, and scheduling skills.
- Ability to review drawings for change order pricing and material procurement.
- Proficiency in information analysis and budget setup.
- Strong written, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and recollect past projects.
- Spectrum experience a plus.
- Estimation software experience a plus.
- Experience in the electrical field a plus.
- Leadership skills – ability to motivate team members.
- Functions effectively as part of a team.
- Self-motivated by inner goals.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
