Project Manager
About the role
This Project Manager role focuses on selecting and managing vendors, procuring materials and services, and driving projects from initiation through completion in a manufacturing or engineering environment. The position supports the company’s core objective of gaining and retaining profitable customers by ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with customer, OSHA, and internal standards.
The Project Manager coordinates closely with operations, engineering, fabrication, vendors, and customers to manage schedules, costs, contracts, inspections, and documentation while maintaining accurate material usage and project data.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Project Manager for assigned projects, overseeing all aspects of communications, scheduling, cost review, and inspection coordination.
- Act as a liaison between operations, engineering, fabrication, and other internal departments to ensure alignment and smooth project execution.
- Review and interpret customer contracts to ensure project requirements, deliverables, and obligations are clearly understood and followed.
- Monitor and maintain accurate material usage and project allocation to support cost control and project profitability.
- Manage project information and documentation, including emails, cost data, quotes, schedules, and related records.
- Maintain and update the SAGE100 computer system, including item number creation and maintenance, description accuracy, parts usage tracking, and creation of item numbers and work tickets.
- Oversee and facilitate materials expediting to ensure timely shipment and receipt of all goods, parts, and supplies required for projects.
- Obtain, review, and catalog vendor quotes to support procurement decisions and project budgeting.
- Provide QA/QC oversight by monitoring quality activities and coordinating inspection management as needed.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork efficiently and accurately in support of project and procurement activities.
- Work safely and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and safety standards, including customer requirements and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work area in accordance with company standards.
- Participate in meetings and special projects as required to support broader business objectives.
- Follow other job-related instructions and perform additional tasks as assigned to support project and operational needs.
Requirements
- Approximately 5 years of project management experience within a manufacturing or engineering facility, including scheduling, cost review, contract review, and inspection coordination.
- Strong mechanical experience, with the ability to understand mechanical systems and components.
- Proven project management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or custom equipment environment.
- Working understanding of engineering concepts, including how they apply to project execution and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects from start to finish while meeting deadlines and budget targets.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey information to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to liaise effectively between departments such as fabrication, engineering, and production, as well as with various vendors and customers.
- Strong people skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from various backgrounds.
- Organized and dependable work style, with attention to detail in documentation, scheduling, and cost tracking.
- Experience working with inventory or ERP systems, such as SAGE100 or similar platforms, for item creation, parts usage tracking, and work ticket management.
Qualifications
- Experience with piping systems and process systems, including exposure to Piping & Process environments.
- Familiarity with QA/QC practices, including oversight, monitoring, and inspection management.
- Experience in a manufacturing or operations environment with a focus on project management and cross-functional coordination.
- Experience in custom equipment or industrial project environments.
- Experience with inventory systems and materials management, including expediting and vendor coordination.
- Comfort working with project documentation such as contracts, quotes, schedules, and cost reports.
- Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement in project processes and documentation control.
- Motivation to grow within a company that is winning new projects and expanding its workload.
Work Environment
The role is based in a standard office environment within a manufacturing or engineering setting. The Project Manager works extensively with computer systems, including SAGE100 or similar ERP platforms, to manage item numbers, parts usage, work tickets, and project documentation.
Regular interaction with operations, engineering, fabrication, and production teams is expected, as well as coordination with external vendors and customers. The position emphasizes working safely and meeting all environmental and safety standards, including those set by customers and OSHA.

Job Type & Location
This is a permanent, fully onsite position based in Buffalo, NY.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on factors including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
