About the role
Peterson Power Systems is seeking a Project Manager 3 to work remotely in any of the listed states. This role is dedicated to large, complex, and long-duration projects with a high degree of "design/build" engineering, on-site customer interaction, and extended travel. Typical projects include large data centers, engineering and construction firms, or marine shipbuilding/repower, requiring significant on-site time.
Responsibilities
- Represent Peterson on-site at customer locations during the delivery, installation, and commissioning of equipment sold.
- Schedule and direct regular meetings with subcontractors and customers/owners to track project progress and task items.
- Manage project documents including permits/approvals, certified payroll, project schedules, site safety guidelines, and site access.
- Partner with customers to embrace their goals and engage with key stakeholders and suppliers to meet those goals.
- Work with the Sales team and customers to fully understand the scope of supply and expectations.
- Provide technical support and work/cost estimates to the Sales team as required.
- Coordinate all project logistics, including equipment orders, custom packaging, shipping, and site services.
- Review contract documents thoroughly to ensure compliance with specifications and commercial terms.
- Utilize project management software to establish budgets, issue purchase orders, and monitor project financial status.
- Select vendors and issue purchase orders based on quality, compliance, pricing, and availability.
- Coordinate material deliveries, production scheduling, and expedite shipping to meet schedule demands.
- Act as the primary liaison between Peterson and the customer for the duration of a project.
- Prepare for and attend project meetings at customer locations, job sites, and Peterson offices.
- Ensure project quality control; coordinate on-site activities including labor, subcontractors, testing, and inspections.
- Arrange for shop tests, site tests, and training as needed.
- Maintain oversight control of assigned projects and assist field crews to ensure compliance with final acceptance requirements.
- Maintain and provide documentation to the customer as applicable to work scope and contract requirements.
- Provide backup and serve as a resource to team members in areas of experience and expertise.
- Assist the sales team in pre-sale meetings and project development.
- Provide guidance to service personnel during start-up and commissioning exercises.
- Pursue continuous education and training to keep pace with current technology impacting the business.
- Monitor vendor performance and review with co-workers.
- Perform project invoicing, progress billing, and cost and profit projection per billing schedule.
- Ensure profitable delivery of projects as estimated, improving processes and gross profit with every opportunity.
- Travel up to 50% of the time to visit job sites, attend customer and vendor meetings, and attend meetings at Peterson locations.
- Operate a company or personal vehicle as needed.
- Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited college in Business or a closely related field, and a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in project management in the construction industry; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
