Project Maintenance Coordinator

About the Role

This position is a key member of the facility's Management Team, focusing on safety, environmental compliance, and operational support. The role involves overseeing the plant’s Safety Program, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of safety awareness among all personnel.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the overall management of the facility as part of the Management Team.
• Provide a safe working environment and promote safety awareness, including conducting hazard analyses.
• Assist the Safety Program Director with oversight and implementation of the plant’s Safety Program to ensure compliance with Tenaska EHS policy and local, state, and federal requirements.
• Work with the plant safety committee to implement EHS procedures, maintain records, and communicate key performance indicators to employees.
• Maintain the plant’s Safety Procedures Manual, Environmental Manual, and Integrated Contingency Plan.
• Assist the Operations Manager with compliance efforts for federal and state regulatory requirements, including timely and accurate reporting.
• Administer training and oversight for plant personnel on compliance-related matters.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in outage preparation, monitor performance, and recommend corrective actions.
• Act as a point of contact for outage scheduling conflicts and assist in reviewing and approving schedule changes.
• Provide oversight and advice to the Operations Manager on plant water production, boiler chemistry, and cooling water treatment.
• Enhance the plant’s image as a good neighbor to the community and environment by participating in and encouraging community activities.
• Survey industry and regulatory news to ensure plant procedures incorporate best practices.
• Participate in monthly Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager calls as appropriate.
• Oversee audits and investigations of the EHS program concerning procedures, vendors, and third parties.
• Assist with EHS-related pre-planning for maintenance outages and projects.
• Complete special projects as required by the Plant Manager.
• Maintain dependable, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Possess and maintain a valid, in-state motor vehicle operator’s license.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of power plant regulatory requirements, including environmental permits and plans.
• Working knowledge of power plant safety and environmental compliance processes.
• Ability to handle multiple job assignments while meeting plant objectives and deadlines.
• Strong analytical and business-case skills.
• Strong leadership, motivational, and communication (oral and written) skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to large groups.
• Innovative and creative problem-solving skills to improve technical, personnel, and business aspects of facility performance.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in Business or Engineering with a strong understanding of plant maintenance, operations, and processes is desirable.
• Prior knowledge of plant equipment and/or experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance practices is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment.
• Experience using computerized accounting and inventory control systems is desired.
• Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software is required; prior knowledge and experience with INFOR EAM software is desirable.

• Vision: Must be able to read reports and use a computer.
• Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
• Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand for long periods and walk throughout the plant.
• Bending/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to bend, stoop, or kneel to work with equipment or materials, including working in confined spaces.
• Stair/Ladder Climbing: Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, including walking on platforms at high altitudes (80 feet or higher).
• Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and pull or push equipment or materials.
• Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type, and use a phone system.

Schedule

• Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts, including the possibility of weekend and holiday work based on schedules, workload, and plant conditions.
• May act as on-call supervisor to resolve after-hours equipment issues.
• Participation in management “on-call” rotation is required.
