About the Role

The Project Leader serves as a key financial and operational leader supporting Home Depot Telecom costs and Technology G&A expenses. This role owns financial planning, forecasting, reporting, accounting, and operational management activities to ensure accurate financial results and provide meaningful insights for business decision-making. The individual partners with Finance, Technology, Procurement, and business stakeholders to manage financial performance, identify trends and risks, and drive operational improvements.

In addition to core finance responsibilities, this role serves as a product owner for Non-Labor reporting, analytics, and supporting business processes. Responsibilities include defining reporting and data requirements, prioritizing enhancements, and driving improvements across reporting tools, forecasting solutions, data pipelines, and operational workflows. The role involves working with platforms such as Google BigQuery, Tableau, SAP, and other enterprise tools to improve data quality, automate manual processes, streamline reporting, and increase accessibility and usefulness of financial and operational information.

The ideal candidate combines financial expertise, technical capability, and project leadership, with comfort in working with large, complex datasets, translating business needs into scalable solutions, and leading initiatives that enhance financial processes and decision support.

Responsibilities

  • Project Control (40%): Develop and execute plans for controlling project scope, schedule, and cost. Monitor project execution to ensure adherence to the plan. Create and coordinate documentation for changes or potential changes to the baseline, ensuring approved changes are implemented.
  • Project Communications (30%): Develop and execute plans for communicating project information to the project team and stakeholders. Create written status reports and scorecards, and present project review documents to senior leadership.
  • Project Risk Assessment (10%): Define project risks and required mitigation approaches. Monitor project activities for risks and take timely action to escalate or mitigate them. Advise project team members and stakeholders of actions required or completed.
  • Project Lessons Learned (10%): Capture key lessons learned at the completion of a project or project phase and communicate them to peer Project Leaders. Apply lessons learned in subsequent projects.
  • Project Environment (10%): Share responsibility for providing a productive working environment. Ensure teams are staffed, duties are understood, and an inclusive environment is maintained.

Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years in Finance, Financial Analytics, Technology Finance, or a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with complex data pipelines; Google BigQuery preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience building complex financial models.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar BI tools, with a focus on creating visuals, ensuring data accuracy, and implementing quality controls.
  • Experience supporting month-end close, including accruals, reclasses, or chargebacks.
  • Passion for taking ownership of projects and leading initiatives through to results; strong project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Experience interacting and partnering with business leaders across the organization.

Education

The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent in a field related to the job.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

Skills

  • Ability to perform detailed analyses and create executive summaries.
  • Ability to present and defend work to senior leadership.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to influence decisions of individuals you do not supervise.

Travel Requirements

Overnight travel required less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Reports to Finance Manager. This role has no direct reports.
