About the role
The Project Lead - Data Center Services supports both the Physical and Virtual Infrastructure of the organization and its facilities. They drive data center best practice and industry standards into working processes and procedures as applicable. They act as the on-site coordinator and supervisor of several Crew Leads.
Responsibilities
- Directly support and coordinate all scheduled data center MACs based on set DCIT calendar event scheduling
- Implements cable work order (CWO) MACs, testing and certification, and can assist with crafting LV project BOM and scope documents
- Asset auditing and daily error logs
- Provide equipment installation MACs, including device labeling, power connectivity and LV cable connectivity and proper cable dressing
- Maintain a safe and secure operating environment within the GPN data center, and report any violations to DCIT immediately as necessary
- Concise, detailed documentation and record keeping relative to asset installation layout, cable plant patch matrix, cable labelling standards, etc.
- Maintain the secure hard drive disk (HDD) bin and log, and ensure compliance with respect to retention practices and notification to DCIT as/when required
- Ticketing and service calls
- Strong skills and familiarity with basic computer productivity tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), testing tools/applications, and data center infrastructure (DCIM) related tools
- Career development, documentation and monitoring of performance measures and processes required for audit and operational compliance related to datacenter best practices and industry standards
- Support standard and emergency operating procedures for data center
- Ensure maintenance schedules within the Data Center align with best industry standards and are followed and reviewed annually
- Provide status reporting regarding Data Center service availability, performance, capacity utilization as required
- Daily error log reporting and physical DC inspections for general health, power, cooling, hazards, etc.
- Coordinates equipment installation and delivery schedules in accordance with set project plans
- Directly participate and provide key input for all data center expansion, migration and decommissioning plans
- Tools: Basic Hand Tools, Trade Tools, Punch Tool, 6/8 Position Combo Crimp Tool, Krone/3M/BIX, Butt Set, Volt-Ohmmeter, 4-Pair Continuity Tester, 5-Gang Punch Tool
Qualifications
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, helps create, develop and implement project process improvement(s), promotes the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners, 3-5 years working in data centers relative to the datacom/telecom industry, operations and administration or related technical field, general knowledge of telecom/IP equipment and software configurations, strong aptitude for independent working environment and high productivity rate, able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s), proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, effective communication and customer relationship skills, regular attendance mandatory
- Education, Certification, License, And Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalency, minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field, any network, storage or server certifications are a plus, able to terminate fiber, minimum of six (6) months supervisory and/or managerial experience, able to use the tools listed above, proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project), meets Company minimum driving standards, license required
Pay
Min USD $35.00/Hr. Max USD $45.00/Hr.
Schedule
100% Travel Required
