Project IT Lead

About the Role
The Project IT Lead will join Bechtel’s team delivering a 1.3 GW simple-cycle power generation facility in Millersport, Ohio, adjacent to a hyperscale data center campus. The facility integrates multiple power generation technologies—including Solar Titan 130 and Siemens SGT800 gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and associated balance-of-plant infrastructure—executed through direct hire and subcontracted labor with modularization, pre-assembly, offsite warehousing, and advanced work packaging.
The role reports to the Bechtel Project Manager and will initially be based in Reston, Houston, or remotely until mobilization to the project site.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all IT operations and services for the Bechtel project team.
- Provide IT operational and technical support; define and deliver IT requirements to support project execution.
- Define IT infrastructure, network, and communications requirements for site offices.
- Develop complex IT reports, dashboards, and automate workflows.
- Coordinate IT plans with the project team, contractors, and client; establish clear Divisions of Responsibility.
- Build relationships with IT vendors.
- Support project team mobilization: asset management, imaging, provisioning of Bechtel computers, mobile phones, and Microsoft 2FA.
- Set up network printers and scanners.
- Assist Bechtel users in connecting to the network, printers, file server, applications, Teams, and SharePoint; resolve technical issues.
- Develop metrics for IS&T performance and governance compliance.
- Manage automation, innovation, and integration requirements with Bechtel, client, and key stakeholders.
- Provide input to IT technical scopes of work for contractors; recommend process improvements.
- Follow Bechtel processes for deploying approved applications.
- Develop IT support guides and conduct user training.
- Create and maintain the Project Automation Plan, Disaster Recovery Plan, Software Application Portfolio, and project IT handover and closeout plan.
- Define and set Project IT goals, schedules, and divisions of responsibility.
- Maintain the Project IT budget and associated forecasts.
- Handle IT procurement and asset management.
- Respond to audits as required.
- Support and deploy EPC software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Microsoft fundamentals courses related to Azure, M365, Teams, and SharePoint administration are desirable.
- Experience on large-scale EPC projects, preferably in North America.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills; ability to document technical processes.
- Strong understanding of major IT infrastructure systems (Microsoft domains, Cloud VPN, Virtual Servers, Caching File Servers, SDWAN, Teams Voice) and their implementation planning.
- Ability to identify, track, escalate, and resolve problems using basic troubleshooting techniques for end-user issues.
- Power BI and Power Apps skills are desirable.
- Proven record in innovation and work process improvement.
- Experience writing IT scope-of-work documents for IT systems.
- Familiarity with engineering, procurement, and construction software; knowledge of software and integration architecture for document management, project controls, Autodesk suite, workflows, and dashboards.
Pay
Salary range: $140,800 – $203,700 annually, based on market data. Final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.
