About the role

The Project Representative/Inspector is primarily responsible for inspecting and monitoring transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with contract plans, specifications, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with contractors to achieve safe and efficient execution of construction projects.
  • Serve as onsite representative for project managers at the project site.
  • Interpret plans and specifications to complete construction projects.
  • Maintain project scope, schedule, and budget in coordination with the project team.
  • Ensure construction operations adhere to contract specifications.
  • Communicate field decisions with the supervisor and project team.
  • Guide construction progress using plans and specifications.
  • Provide progress and status reports to the project team.
  • Verify contractor pay requests for accuracy.
  • Build constructive relationships with clients in the field.
  • Maximize production and efficiency while minimizing redundancy with contractors.
  • Verify that all required documents are provided by the contractor.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly project progress meetings.
  • Respond to requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and change orders.
  • Conduct substantial and final completion inspections.
  • Inspect completed work items for conformance to contract plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one to two years of related construction work, skill, knowledge, OR experience.
  • A knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction of buildings, bridges, or other structures.
  • LADOTD Inspection Certifications preferred but not required.
  • The ability to work toward and achieve certification by the Louisiana Transportation Research Center in the inspection of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) paving, structural concrete, embankment and base course, or other material as directed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and a keen interest in quality control and safety. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
